dude vamsi@siliconcorp, you took the words right out of my mouth...have
you
been eavesdropping ? PEOPLE ARE MOST DEFINITELY THE ULTIMATE "RESOURCE".

However, there are other "resources" that flesh bound humans need.
People
are supposed to have these capacities to conjure up "IDEAS".....but real

world problem solving ideas do not seem to be in abundance right
now....material resources are depleting faster than mental ideas can
replenish them. 6 billion (I phrase a qsn that has most definitely
occured
in other minds........BTW how are they sure that Mr/Ms 6B was born in
Sarajevo, and not in Ponukumadu ? or in Guangzhou / or in Jakarta / or
in
Sudan ?) is a nasty number. 5 billion was and so were 4 and 3, if you
want
the whole world to live like the US is right now. The tech progress of
this
century has been pretty tremendous , but MOST significantly, this is
also
the century that IBMs small planet went from 2B in the 1920s to 6B at
millenium end. The REAL Y2K problem. A historically unprecedented mass
of
heaving humanity writhing under the physical pangs of hunger or the
mental
pangs of Hollywood..........Did it all start with CAPITAL , that
in-humane
substitute for equally in-humane feudal and religious
authority....Capital
as the source of the "me, myself and I"-centered 2.5 centuries of
history.
? Capital as catalyst for industrial development in Europe, leading to
colonial expansion leading to expliotation of Asia and America. The
Asian
peoples have survived, and their systems are tottering towards democracy
and
science, but will realiztions of mass and energy balances beat the
merciless
imperatives of I Capital ? International news nowadays is full of
rebellions all over the world. Population pressure....more people ,
more
minds more wants........funny more people should mean more ideas, but it

seems everybody wants something or the other...I wonder why ? Will a
harried politician or general decide to play with Oppenheimers deadly
toy ?
Will Dr. Strangelove's fantasy come true ? Or will people prove that
they
really are the ultimate resource and develop nuclear fission or build
Elizabeth Arroway's (of "Contact" fame...the most responsible SF
book/movie
that has been created) wormhole-machine into multiple universes ? I
await
with eager eyes while expectingr annihilation...... I am no voluntary
doomsayer, but I am a slave to logic and "science"....hey what do you
expect, I have been educted out of my fucking head. Lets lighten up
thoguh
vamsi@sc......."have you heard about the philosophic dyslexic insomniac
who
stayed up all night wondering if there really was a DOG ? ", or have
you
read a recent New York Times article on me-centerdness which had a
sentence
saying that in the last few decades Woody Allen's
"I....I.......I.....I....." almost sounds like a complete sentence ?
For
any friend that is about to get married, here is a funny quote...... :
"I
am" is the shortest sentence in the English language; "I do" is the
longest.
