This issue [minimum wage] is something I responded to long ago and I
thought was
settled.
To reiterate, my response was: set a minimum wage at a level that makes it
possible
for someone working 8 to 10 hours a day to be able to buy the minimum of
food
and
clothing and shelter needed for survival and to continue working. Anything
less,
IMO,
is exploitation and sends the working poor down the "road to serfdom".

On a side note, yesterday the US state of Washington announced a proposal
to
index
the minimum wage to inflation. I will watch this experiment with interest.
I
doubt that it
will lead to that state's financial collapse as the opponents of a fair
minimum
wage
seem to imply.
