IN ANOTHER FIVE DAYS IT WILL BE 50 YEARS OF A DOCUMENT CALLED THE =
CONSTITUTION OF INDIA.
It will no doubt will be flooded with a spate of articles in all =
national dailies, magazines on the impact of the occassion. What however =
will be missing in all those is what follows.
It will not be mentioned that even the 'preamble' which did not include =
words like 'secular' and 'socialist' in its original form was amended by =
an school drop-out who was at the helm of affairs and whose only claim =
to greatness(unclaimed so far) fame may be as THE MOST TIMES =
PHOTOGRAPHED PERSON IN THE WORLD in the book of Guinee's.
It will not be mentioned that a document which forbids classifying =
people by reasons of caste, creed, birth etc. is itself responsible for =
creating what it terms as COMMUNITY by mere existence of an English =
word.In that language a person born in India with an English as father =
is called Anglo-Indian.Lo and behold, even today when the population of =
such worthies may not be in four figures(ones with an English father and =
NOT with an Anglo-Indian father i.e.) you continue to have to appoint =
two members to Loksabha to safeguard the interest of that community.
It will also not be mentioned that at no time since independence the =
country ever even once had a government representing majority.First past =
the post and poor voter turn out cannot obscure a fact of life.
But then as PG Wodehouse says through one of his characters" In =
everyones life some rain must fall" Maybe in this case it is my dear =
Bharat.
Do not despair if only BLACK has been brought out.Enough WHITE shall =
follow.
