Re: Civil Rights and Moral Reasoning

Given Dr. Roy's moral reasoning "checklist" of why the Orissa incident
is considered more horrific than the plight of
Kashmiri Pandits, I would like to invite comparisons to the
Wandham massacre of late 1997 when entire Pandit families
were butchered in their sleep. All of the following apply
except for the fact that the victims in Orissa were foreigners
and that too, the "right" (or in the case of this tragic incident, the
"wrong" kind of foreigner: white, Christian missionaries.
Which raises the question whether skin color and the name by
which God is worshipped does matter in the news media's categorization
of what is "especially horrific" and what is merely "troubling".
